We’re happy to announce that Uriolide has been added to our pigment standard portfolio as a ready-to-use calibration standard.
Uriolide -along with Micromonal and Micromonol- is found in the pico-sized prasinophyte Micromonas sp., a globally distributed green alga. Recently, we detected Micromonas in Arctic samples from one of our clients, highlighting its growing presence in high-latitude marine ecosystems. The increasing occurrence of Micromonas in Arctic waters may reflect broader climate-driven shifts in marine ecosystems. As Arctic temperatures rise and sea ice declines, pico-sized phytoplankton like Micromonas are expected to become more dominant, potentially reshaping the base of the marine food web.
At DHI, our pigment standards are used to calibrate HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) systems, ensuring precise and reliable pigment analysis. With over 45 different pigment standards now available, we support laboratories and research institutions worldwide in advancing phytoplankton monitoring and marine science.
